Save debate and complaing for later please! We all have the same first priority, to get our computers and eve to work again so stop making me read all your whining in search for clues!
Unfortunally I did reboot before I heard of the issue and my pc is giving me the hal.dll-error. Since I bought my PC from the trolls at Dell I didnt get a XP-cd. So I have been trying to get it to work by installing the harddrive into this other PC Im using right now to be able to replace the boot.ini - but with no success any thoughts? Anyone else tried this with any success? I even tried with the boot.ini.backup (-"backup"), with no luck... It gives the same error or another something about wanting kernel for dll?? This depending wether I put 1's or 2's in the .ini (using notepad).
I also did the suggested run > cmd manuever but unsure wehter that works since im not running my PC's OS, but rather the one installed on this computer (err, you still with me?).
[BTW > CCP, the glimpse I got last night of the premium exp... fantastic!]

glad to report i now got my pc up and running :
after making a new boot.ini with notepad i got another error saying:
"Load need DLL's for kernel"
this was finally solved by replacing the hal.dll file in system32 catalog. i know i did this earlier but it didnt work so i suggest you try it more than once, perhaps trying different sources for the file. someone replied to me earlier about this later error message saying he had to reinstall - apparantly you can fix this without reinstalling your whole system.
